Clerk Information:

The Town Clerk's office is located at the Town Office Building, 14341 Waterport-Carlton Road, Albion, NY 14411. The Clerk issues dog licenses, Handicapped parking permits, fishing/hunting licenses, and marriage licenses. Notary services are also available.

Vital Records:

Copies of records for births, deaths and marriages filed in the Town from 1847 to present can be issued at the Town Clerk's office. An application process is required and the fee is $10.00 per certified copy.

Tax Collection Information:
The Carlton Tax Collector is responsible for County/Town tax bills only. The bills are mailed in the beginning of January. The collection schedule is as follows:
  • Jan 1 - Jan 31: No penalty
  • Feb 1 - Feb 28: 1 % penalty
  • Mar 1 - Mar 31: 2 % penalty
  • Apr 1 - Apr 30: 3 % penalty plus $1.00 notice fee

Unpaid tax rolls are surrendered to the Orleans County Treasurer on May 1st. Please contact the County Treasurer at (585) 589 - 5353 for specific amount owing.
